Children’s art tells the story in Eastbourne

About This Project

Old Town Community Church is a lively all-age church meeting in a community building in the old centre of Eastbourne. The church was the catalyst for a series of events in 2015 under the title Journey to Kings Cross. They arranged an interactive art exhibition lasting ten days in the final weeks of Lent. Local youth groups, artists, church members and children from year 6 at Ocklynge Primary School were invited to illustrate aspects of the Easter story.

Although the opening times for the exhibition were limited, it was seen by over 200 people. On Good Friday Old Town Community Church joined with other local churches for a Walk of Witness following a cross. The cross was draped with red ribbons, which streamed into the following crowd. The events culminated in a service on Easter Sunday where the church celebrated and gave thanks for those who work in the area.
